Commissioner of Oaths

We offer Commissioner of Oaths services. Members of the public may request commissioning of documents whereby one is required to take an oath, affirmation or declaration in front of a commissioner. Our Commissioner of Oaths will witness the signatures of people who are affirming/swearing the contents of a document to be true. If you are seeking these services you must visit the Municipal Office in person with photo identification during regular business hours.

We strongly recommend you call the Clerk's Office at 519-348-8429 to make sure that one of the Commissioner of Oaths are available.

Fee

The fee is $10.00 and is payable by cash or debit.

Document

Common documents we can witness include:

• consent letters for children travelling out of country
• vehicle transfers
• immunization exemptions
• foreign pension or life pension statements

Examples of documents we cannot witness include:

• wills
• power of attorney documents
• divorce papers or separation agreements
• real estate documents, including transfer of land

We reserve the right to refuse commissioning services of any document.

The Municipality of West Perth does not have a Notary Public on staff. For notary services, please contact a lawyer or public notary.
