Are you a homeowner planning to renovate your home? Are you a property owner planning to build a new structure? Below is some information to help you meet the Municipality of West Perth's rules and regulations related to building and renovation.
A Building Permit is formal permission from the Municipality of West Perth to begin construction or work to structures.
All applications are reviewed for compliance with the Ontario Building Code and Zoning By-law requirements.
New fees for Building Permits were approved at the September 5, 2023 Council Meeting.
These fees are increasing in a gradient until 2025.

Municipality of West Perth's Building Department uses Cloudpermit - an online system to apply for and track building permits.
Cloudpermit's system allows you to apply for and to see the status of your application anywhere, at any time. You can start an application and finish it later, receive email updates on the status of your permit application. You can request building inspections online using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Municipality of West Perth Building staff must review your plans to ensure that they comply with the Ontario Building Code and all other applicable law prior to the issuance of a Building Permit.
If required, permit applications can also be made by printing and completing all required forms, including site and construction plans, and submitting them to the Municipal Office with your project drawings.

Before you dig, locate underground infrastructure by using the Ontario One Call online locate form or call: 1-800-400-2255.
Ontario One Call distributes locate requests to utilities with infrastructure in the area. The Municipality of West Perth will either clear the locate request meaning that your work will not impact any buried infrastructure, or mark it onsite with paint. When complete, you will receive a locate notice through email or fax with the results.
