Climate is something that impacts our day to day lives. Locally, each municipality has faced the impacts of severe weather, flooding, and increased hot and cold days. The world is on its way to reaching and surpassing the 1.5°C threshold that has been identified as the upper limit of global temperature increase to keep us within a safe range of climate change impacts. The world has to stay below this threshold and lower emissions 40% to 50% by 2030, or effects will be long lasting or irreversible.

Supporting Sustainable Transportation in Our Community
EV Chargers Available in West Perth
The Municipality of West Perth is proud to offer several electric vehicle (EV) chargers available for public use at convenient locations throughout our community. Several of these chargers are part of a broader green infrastructure enhancement program aimed at supporting cleaner, more sustainable transportation options for residents and visitors alike. Chargers at the West Perth Arena and Community Centre, West Perth Municipal Office, and Downtown Mitchell strive to provide charging options, with an additional 2 DC fast chargers to be installed in Mitchell coming in 2026 through the ChargeON Grant with Ministry of Transportation Ontario, and IVY Charging Networks.
These EV chargers are integrated into Rural Recharge—a regional network spanning seven counties across Southwestern Ontario. Other accessible chargers are provided in partnership with ERTH Power Corporation, including the Downtown Mitchell location. This coordinated effort ensures a reliable and connected EV charging experience across the region, making it easier than ever to travel sustainably throughout rural Ontario.
Whether you're commuting locally, enjoying a sports tournament, or exploring the region, you can count on West Perth to help keep you charged up, year-round.
Please note: Parking in spots designated for EV Charging in a non-EV vehicle, or when not charging, is an offence under the West Perth Parking By-Law 52-2021. A fine of $125.00 will be issued. Please be courteous to those in need of a charge.

The Municipality of West Perth uses the Perth County Weed Inspector to investigate and spray any noxious weeds reported on municipal or county land, including road allowances.
