Community Clean Up Day Postponed

Due to flooding and high water levels, this Saturday’s cleanup is postponed to April 25th .

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority has a flood bulletin in effect until April 20 and is advising everyone to stay away from watercourses and flooded areas.

Nominations Open May 1st for 2026 Municipal & School Board Elections in West Perth

Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s.32)

 

The Municipality of West Perth is advising residents that the nomination period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections will open on May 1, 2026. Eligible individuals interested in running for office may file their nomination papers with the Municipal Clerk.

Municipal Offices Open for Nomination

  • Mayor (1)
  • Deputy Mayor (1)
  • Councillors (9 total)
    • Fullarton Ward — 2
    • Hibbert Ward — 2
    • Logan Ward — 2
    • Mitchell Ward — 3

School Board Trustee Positions

  • Avon Maitland District School Board — 1 to be elected. Nomination papers to be filed with the Clerk, Municipality of West Perth.
  • Huron‑Perth Catholic District School Board — 1 to be elected. Nomination papers to be filed with the Clerk, Municipality of West Perth.
  • Conseil Scolaire Viamonde — 1 to be elected. Nomination papers to be filed with the Clerk, City of London.
  • Conseil Scolaire catholique Providence — 1 to be elected. Nomination papers to be filed with the Clerk, City of Sarnia.

Nomination Filing Details

Nominations may be submitted in person or through an agent at the Municipal Office:

  • May 1 to August 20, 2026 Business hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Final Nomination Day: August 21, 2026, Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Candidates must file:

  • Nomination Form 1
  • Endorsements Form 2 with a minimum of 25 eligible signatures
  • Filing fee: $200 for Mayor; $100 for all other offices

The withdrawal deadline for candidates is August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the offices, an election will be held, and voting will be conducted by telephone/internet voting method. The voting period will commence on October 19th, 2026, at 8:00 am and run through October 26th, 2026, until the close of polls at 8:00 pm.
