Election Candidate Information Session Hosted by Local Municipalities and Clerks On Call

The Municipality of West Perth, along with neighbouring municipalities, is inviting residents to an Election Candidate Information Session for those considering running for municipal office. The session will help prospective candidates understand the responsibilities of council, key personal and financial considerations, and how municipal decision‑making and governance work.

Trainers from Clerks On Call will lead the session, with representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing providing information on eligibility, nominations, campaign finances, and compliance requirements.

The session will be held on Wednesday, March 25th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Perth East Recreation Complex, 40 Temperance Street, Milverton. Virtual attendees may register by emailing elections@pertheast.ca by 4:30 p.m. on March 25.

“Helping residents understand what it means to serve in municipal government is essential to supporting informed participation,” said James Hutson, Clerk for the Municipality of West Perth. “This session offers practical information for anyone thinking about running for office.”

The session is open to residents of all participating municipalities, and no prior political experience is required. For more details, residents may visit their local municipal website or contact their Clerk’s Department.
