Senior of the Year Award

About the Award

The Senior of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding voluntary contribution to the community. This award celebrates residents who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, and community spirit, and whose efforts have positively impacted the quality of life within the Municipality. The Ontario Senior of the Year Award honors one outstanding person aged 65 or older per municipality who has enriched their community's social, cultural, or civic life.

Eligibility

Nominees must:

  • 65 years or older
  • Be a current resident of the Municipality of West Perth
  • Have made significant voluntary contributions
  • Demonstrate ongoing commitment to improving the community

Past recipients may not be nominated again.

Nomination Process

Nominations are open to all residents of the Municipality.

  1. Complete the Senior of the Year Nomination Form or Download PDF version of the Nomination Form
  2. Provide a detailed description of the nominee’s contributions and impact
  3. Submit the form by the posted deadline

Submit completed forms online or PDF versions can be emailed to clerk@westperth.com with subject line "Senior of the Year Nominiation". 

Award Presentation

The Senior of the Year is recognized annually and honoured at a Council meeting. The recipient receives:

  • A commemorative certificate
  • Public recognition on the municipal website
Nominations are reviewed by Council, who assess each submission based on several key factors, including the nominee’s community involvement, volunteerism, length and impact of service, leadership and initiative, and the overall benefit their contributions have provided to the Municipality. Following this evaluation, the successful nominee is formally approved by Council.

The Citizen of the Year Award Selection Committee sincerely appreciates the time and effort you have taken to submit this nomination. You will receive an email once the nomination review process has been completed, advising you of the status of your submission.

In accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, all information collected will be used solely for the purposes of candidate selection and for recognition at the Award Ceremony.
