The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) provides you the right to access municipal records with certain limitations and exemptions. The Act requires municipalities to protect personal information and how to collect, retain, use, disclose and dispose of that information. The result is a balance between access to information and protection of personal privacy.
The Municipality of West Perth promotes open government by operating in a manner that fosters and supports the principles of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
If you wish to access municipal records, please contact the Clerk to see if the records are available for disclosure. You need to make a formal Freedom of Information request if a record is not currently publicly available.
The following process applies to formal requests:

2.Complete the form in full, making sure you provide as many details as possible about the information you are requesting.
3.Pay the $5.00 application fee (prescribed by the Act) at the time you submit your request. Make sure the cheque is payable to the Municipality of West Perth.
4.Mail or drop off the completed Freedom of Information Request to the Clerk at:

You must submit a mandatory $5.00 application fee with the form. Depending on the request, additional fees may apply as per Section 45 of the Act.

The Municipality has 30 days after receiving the complete request (including the $5.00 application fee) to respond. The Municipality will provide access to the requested records, or tell you why the records cannot be provided.
