NOTICE:
BURN PERMITS will not be issued during the office holiday closure from December 24th at 12 p.m. to January 3rd. Regular office hours will resume January 4th, 2021.
If you will require a burn permit during this time, please call the office or complete a form online before December 24th at 12 p.m. We will be happy to issue a permit for requested days or the duration of our closure.
**Reminder: Completing the online form or leaving a message with your information does not grant you permission to burn. You must obtain approval directly with a staff member or receive an email confirmation.**

Open air burning in the Municipality of West Perth is regulated by the Open Air Burning By-law. A burn permit is required for all open air burning within the Municipality. Whether you are having a small backyard fire, clearing your property of brush or lighting fireworks, a permit is required.

Burn Ban |
The West Perth Fire Department will issue a burn ban when there is very dry weather or poor air quality in the community. Burn ban notices will appear on our website and social media. The notice will let you know which types of burning are banned. These burn bans are for your safety and we ask that you follow them. |
Complaints |
For any complaints concerning open burning, smoke or smell of smoke, call the West Perth Fire Department from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For after hours, weekends and holidays please dial 911. If the West Perth Fire Department attends to a complaint and the fire does not meet the guidelines set out in our Municipal By-Law, or if the Municipality has not been notified of a planned burn, they will be asked to extinguish the fire. |
