The Operations Department is responsible for the following:
- 514 kilometres of roads (53% are asphalt topped)
- 129 bridge or culvert structures greater than 3 metres
- 48 kilometres of sidewalk
- Sanitary and storm sewer infrastructure
- Streetlights
- Winter Maintenance Operations
Currently the municipality is investigating the need for a bridge crossing in the North section of the Ward of Mitchell. Information regarding the status of this study may be found on the main page of the website located under MUNICIPAL NEWS & NOTICES.
In accordance with By-law 028-2009, overnight parking is not permitted on any road, street or municipal parking lot between the hours of 2:00 am and 6:00 am from December 1st to March 28th of each year
No person throw, deposit, or cause to be deposited, any snow, ice or mud as to interfere with the movement of pedestrian or vehicular traffic. Section 181 of the Highway Traffic Act states, “No person shall deposit snow or ice on a roadway without permission in writing so to do from the Ministry or the road authority responsible for the maintenance of the road”. The fine for violating Section 181 is $110.00.
During normal snow clearing operations, snow from municipal property will occasionally be placed on private property. Damage to sod in urbanized areas will be replaced by Operations staff with topsoil and seed only. The Municipality of West Perth will not remediate properties which receive stones from adjacent gravel roads.
Sidewalk snow removal shall be in respect to By-law 22-2003 (link required).
