On behalf of Council and the citizens of West Perth, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our vibrant and growing community. We are a municipality mixed with urban living and a diversified agricultural community in southwestern Ontario. The former Town of Mitchell, and the former townships of Logan, Fullarton and Hibbert make up our exciting and historically rich area. Travellers will find our area appealing with the crossroads of Highway 8 and Highway 23 being located within our municipality.
West Perth is proud to promote its nature trails and wetlands. For any nature lover and bird enthusiast, our community offers a golden opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors while catching a glimpse of the Blue Heron, one of the rare birds that graces our area with its majestic presence.
Special events throughout the year include our annual Mitchell Grizzlies Cornfest ball tournament in August and the Mitchell Agricultural Society's Fall Fair on Labour Day weekend. The Mitchell Farmers' Market is open every Friday morning in May through to Thanksgiving weekend in Centennial Park. In 2013 West Perth will host the International Plowing Match which will showcase our dedication in promoting our area with pride.
Please drop by at169 St. David Street, Mitchell, ON, to find out more about what West Perth has to offer. You might just come for a visit and stay for a lifetime!
Mayor Walter McKenzie
