The Tourism & Communities in Bloom Committee is a group of dedicated volunteers who meet once a month to discuss ways to beautify West Perth and attract tourists to the area. The activities of this group include the following:
Spring Fling - An evening of entertainment featuring local guest speakers in home, gardening and cooking topics
Information Booth - Located in Centennial Park volunteers greet tourists and help to promote West Perth
Downtown flowers/ Bridge flower boxes - Committee members order flowers and help with general upkeep
Christmas Light decorating in Howie Morenz Park and Cenntenial Park - Committee members bring the parks to life in November for the Christmas Season with Christmas lights and welcome the season with Christmas carolling and refreshments in the park
Farmers' Market - The Communities in Bloom committee oversee the Farmers' Market and the Market Rep is Dianna Weirmier. The committee holds a meeting in early spring with returning vendors and potential new vendors. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor or learning more about the Farmers' market is welcome to attend. The Farmers' Market has their own website at www.mitchellfarmersmarket.com.
The Committee works with the Mitchell BIA and other municipal committees to help promote the wetlands and trails. New members are always welcome. Please contact the Clerk's office to join. (519) 348-8429 ext. 223.
